About RoomPe, the operator behind institutional living

RoomPe Private Limited is an Ahmedabad-based institutional housing operator, founded in 2020 by Deval Patel and Satya Mehta. It runs hostels for universities and housing for employers, manages 1,000+ beds across 5 campuses, and is bootstrapped and profitable with $1M+ in annual recurring revenue.

Why does RoomPe exist?

India has millions of beds, and almost nobody runs them well. University hostels are run by admin staff who were hired to run academics, and workers live in informal rooms with long commutes. The result is bad food, weak security, endless vendor juggling, empty beds, unhappy parents, absenteeism and attrition.

RoomPe was started to be the operator in between: an organisation whose only job is running the life inside institutional buildings, to hospitality-grade SOPs, for whoever owns them. Institutions keep the asset and the policy; RoomPe runs beds, meals, safety, people and reporting under one contract.

How has RoomPe grown since 2020?

RoomPe was incorporated in Ahmedabad in March 2020, opened its first 60-bed campus with one institution in 2021, reached three campuses in 2022, and by 2024 was running 1,000+ beds across 5 campuses. It crossed $1M in annual recurring revenue by January 2025 without outside funding.

What makes RoomPe different from a landlord or a caterer?

A landlord rents space and a caterer cooks food; neither answers for the whole residence. RoomPe is a housing operator: it runs food in-house, staffs the site with verified people, covers every resident type on one system, and reports every month, so the institution or employer has one point of accountability.

Which principles does RoomPe operate by?

RoomPe runs on four principles: safety first, technology at the core, hospitality standards in every service, and two rules it does not bend. No commercials are issued without a site visit, and nothing starts on a handshake: scope, service levels, manpower and terms are fixed in writing first.

Safety first
24×7 security, verified staff and residents, and traceable incident logs at every site.
Technology at the core
Every bed, meal and complaint visible in real time, for residents and clients.
Hospitality standards
Hotel-grade housekeeping and service, delivered at campus and plant scale.
Nothing on a handshake
No commercials without a site visit; everything fixed in writing before mobilisation.

How is RoomPe related to MealPe?

MealPe is a sister company in the RoomPe group that builds B2B foodtech for cafeteria and mess management. RoomPe uses the MealPe app in the messes it runs, for menus, polls, feedback and digital meal counts. MealPe operates as a separate company with its own site at mealpe.app.
