General questions

What is the difference between a housing operator, a landlord and a caterer?

A landlord provides space and a caterer provides food; neither answers for the whole residence. A housing operator such as RoomPe runs everything inside the building, from beds and meals to security, staff, maintenance and reporting, under one contract with one point of accountability.

Does RoomPe publish prices?

No. Commercials follow a site visit, an assessment and an agreed scope of work. Bed count, the services taken, manpower, meal plans and the condition of the building all change the cost, so every proposal is built on a physical audit and a completed discovery form.

What information does RoomPe need to prepare a proposal?

For hostels: photographs, a walkthrough video, the location, bed capacity, fee structure, manpower structure and floor plan. For workforce housing: headcount by shift and grade, gender mix and states of origin, the hiring plan, plant locations, shift timings and current housing arrangements.

Which norms does RoomPe work to?

University hostel operations are aligned to UGC, AICTE and governing-body norms. Kitchens are FSSAI-certified. Workforce housing is designed to applicable building, fire and labour rules for occupancy, ventilation and sanitation, and women’s grievances link to the Internal Committee under the POSH Act.

What does “one contract, one invoice, one point of accountability” mean?

It means the institution or employer deals with one operator for the whole residence instead of separate vendors for food, security, housekeeping and maintenance. RoomPe signs one contract, sends one invoice and is answerable for every service on site. Billing is backed by the monthly MIS.

How does RoomPe measure whether it is doing a good job?

Each C.A.R.T block has its own measures, from grievance closure and hygiene audits to occupancy, maintenance turnaround and billing accuracy. For workforce housing, RoomPe agrees a baseline with HR and plant teams before go-live and reports against it every month.

Why does RoomPe insist on a site visit before quoting?

Because a proposal built on assumptions fails in operation. The site audit maps infrastructure, service gaps and manpower, so the scope, service levels and commercials RoomPe signs up to are ones it can deliver from day one. It also gives both sides a shared baseline to report against.

Can RoomPe start with a pilot?

Yes, for workforce housing. A rollout starts with a workforce and site assessment and a pilot block for the first cohort. After a go or no-go against pilot service levels, more blocks or sites are added in waves with the hiring plan.
